From Chagall to Fellini: At Perugia, the Theatre of Dreams

David Salle, Smoke 2008

David Salle, Smoke (2008)

Dreams are the theme of the exhibit in Perugia “TEATRO DEL SOGNO da Chagall a Fellini” that opens September 25th and runs until January 9, 2011. The show will be set up inside the Galleria Nazionale and contains works by modern and contemporary artists influenced in some way by Freud. The theme of dream and the unconscious reminds me rather a lot of the recent exhibit at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence on De Chirico, Max Ernst et al, about which i wrote a long review.

In Perugia, you’ll find works by Marc Chagall, Salvador Dalì, Giorgio de Chirico, Paul Delvaux, Max Ernst, Renè Magritte, André Masson, Joan Mirò, Man Ray, Alberto Savinio, Yves Tanguy, Fernando Botero, Paul Klee, Max Klinger, Plinio Nomellini, Gaetano Previati. In terms of the contemporary artists from the international and italian scenes Sandro Chia, Mimmo Paladino, Julian Schnabel, and David Salle as well as video and installation work by the latests artist-stars Jan Fabre, Damien Hirst, Tony Oursler, Pinot Gallizio.
